24 dates in 2026. Tithi times are cut to the minute; puja windows are rounded.

How the dates are decided

  1. The Ekadashi tithi is found from the Sun and Moon positions.
  2. The fasting day follows the Smarta rule: Ekadashi present at sunrise; if it touches two sunrises, the first day unless Dashami is present at Arunodaya (96 minutes before sunrise); if Dwadashi would not reach the next sunrise, the day before.
  3. Parana (breaking the fast) is the next morning after sunrise, after Hari Vasara (the first quarter of Dwadashi) and within Dwadashi — in Pratahkal, or in Aparahna if Hari Vasara runs past the morning.

Calculated from the Sun and Moon positions for your place with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, in IST. Vrat and festival days follow the rules Drik Panchang uses; on our test set of 178 vrat dates and over 1,200 timings they match to the day, and times agree within a minute.

Frequently asked questions

What is Parana time?

Parana is the time to break the Ekadashi fast, on the next day. It should be after sunrise, after Hari Vasara (the first quarter of Dwadashi tithi) and within Dwadashi. The preferred time is Pratahkal (the first part of the morning); Madhyahna is avoided.

What is Gauna Ekadashi?

When Ekadashi is observed on two consecutive days, the second day is called Gauna Ekadashi. Smarta families usually fast on the first day; sanyasis, widows and Vaishnavas often fast on the second.

Are Vaishnava (ISKCON) Ekadashi dates different?

Sometimes. Vaishnava calendars avoid an Ekadashi touched by Dashami at Arunodaya and so may fast a day later. This calculator gives the Smarta date and shows the Gauna date when there is one.

How many Ekadashis are there in a year?

Usually 24; in a year with an Adhika (extra) lunar month there are 26 — Padmini and Parama Ekadashi fall in the Adhika month.
