How Choghadiya works
Sunrise to sunset and sunset to the next sunrise are each divided into eight equal Choghadiyas (about 1½ hours each). The sequence starts from the ruler of the weekday.
- Amrit, Shubh and Labh — auspicious (Amrit is the best).
- Char — neutral, good for travel.
- Rog, Kaal and Udveg — avoided for new work.

Which Choghadiya is best?
Amrit is considered the best, followed by Shubh and Labh. Char is good for travel. Rog, Kaal and Udveg are avoided for beginnings.
Should I check Rahu Kalam as well?
Many people do. A good Choghadiya that overlaps Rahu Kalam is usually skipped for important beginnings.
