Sloka 1.7
अस्माकं तु विशिष्टा ये तान्निबोध द्विजोत्तम ।
नायका मम सैन्यस्य संज्ञार्थं तान्ब्रवीमि ते ॥
అస్మాకం తు విశిష్టా యే తాన్నిబోధ ద్విజోత్తమ ।
నాయకా మమ సైన్యస్య సంజ్ఞార్థం తాన్బ్రవీమి తే ॥
asmākaṃ tu viśiṣṭā ye tānnibodha dvijottama |
nāyakā mama sainyasya saṃjñārthaṃ tānbravīmi te ||
బ్రాహ్మణోత్తమా! మన పక్షంలోని ముఖ్యమైన వీరులను, నా సైన్యానికి నాయకులను కూడా తెలుసుకోండి. మీకు గుర్తుగా వారి పేర్లు చెబుతున్నాను.
And now, O best of brahmins, hear about the leading warriors on our side, the commanders of my army. I name them for your information.
About chapter 1
On the battlefield of Kurukshetra, the Kaurava and Pandava armies stand ready for war. Arjuna asks Krishna, his charioteer, to place the chariot between the two armies. Seeing teachers, cousins and friends on the other side, he is overcome with grief, lays down his bow and refuses to fight. The whole teaching of the Gita grows out of this moment of doubt.
