- The Purnima day is the day Purnima tithi prevails at sunrise — used for holy baths and charity.
- The Purnima vrat (upavas) is the day Purnima prevails at moonrise, which is sometimes the day before.

Why are there two Purnima dates in some months?
The Purnima vrat is kept on the day Purnima tithi covers moonrise, while the Purnima day for snan and daan is the day it prevails at sunrise. When these differ, both are shown.
