About chapter 2
Arjuna surrenders to Krishna as his disciple, and Krishna begins to teach. The soul is eternal: it is never born and never dies, so the wise do not grieve. Krishna explains one’s own duty (svadharma), action without attachment to results, and the qualities of a person of steady wisdom (sthitaprajña). Many of the Gita’s best-known verses, including 2.47, are in this chapter.
