About Ayush Homam
Ayush Homam is a Vedic fire ritual offered to Ayur Devata, the deity of lifespan, along with prayers to the Navagrahas. It is traditionally performed on a child's birthday (especially the first), on the birth nakshatra, or while recovering from an illness, praying for good health and a long life. The priest invokes the deity into the sacred fire and offers ghee, herbs and samidhas with Vedic mantras.
