17.1అర్జునుడు పలికెను · Arjuna said
ये शास्त्रविधिमुत्सृज्य यजन्ते श्रद्धयाऽन्विताः ।
तेषां निष्ठा तु का कृष्ण सत्त्वमाहो रजस्तमः ॥
యే శాస్త్రవిధిముత్సృజ్య యజన్తే శ్రద్ధయాఽన్వితాః ।
తేషాం నిష్ఠా తు కా కృష్ణ సత్త్వమాహో రజస్తమః ॥
ye śāstravidhimutsṛjya yajante śraddhayā’nvitāḥ |
teṣāṃ niṣṭhā tu kā kṛṣṇa sattvamāho rajastamaḥ ||
About chapter 17
Arjuna asks about those who worship with faith but without following scripture. Krishna explains that faith takes the colour of one’s nature — sattvic, rajasic or tamasic — and shows how the same three qualities appear in food, sacrifice, austerity and charity. He closes with the meaning of “Om Tat Sat”, which sanctifies every act of worship.
