About this aarti

The aarti of Goddess Lakshmi sung on Diwali, Dhanteras, Fridays and at every Lakshmi puja. It praises Lakshmi as the mother of the world from whom all prosperity and virtue flow.

Om Jai Lakshmi Mata

1. ॐ जय लक्ष्मी माता, मैया जय लक्ष्मी माता।
   तुमको निशदिन सेवत, हरि विष्णु विधाता॥

   ఓం జయ లక్ష్మీ మాతా, మైయా జయ లక్ష్మీ మాతా।
   తుమకో నిశదిన సేవత, హరి విష్ణు విధాతా॥

   Om jai Lakshmi Mata, maiya jai Lakshmi Mata,
   Tumko nishdin sevat, Hari Vishnu Vidhata.

   Victory to Mother Lakshmi, whom Vishnu and Brahma serve day and night.

2. उमा, रमा, ब्रह्माणी, तुम ही जग-माता।
   सूर्य-चन्द्रमा ध्यावत, नारद ऋषि गाता॥

   ఉమా, రమా, బ్రహ్మాణీ, తుమ హీ జగ-మాతా।
   సూర్య-చన్ద్రమా ధ్యావత, నారద ఋషి గాతా॥

   Uma, Rama, Brahmani, tum hi jag-mata,
   Surya-Chandrama dhyavat, Narad rishi gaata.

   You are Uma, Rama and Brahmani — the mother of the world. The Sun and Moon meditate on you and the sage Narada sings your praise.

3. दुर्गा रूप निरंजनि, सुख सम्पत्ति दाता।
   जो कोई तुमको ध्यावत, ऋद्धि-सिद्धि धन पाता॥

   దుర్గా రూప నిరంజని, సుఖ సమ్పత్తి దాతా।
   జో కోఈ తుమకో ధ్యావత, ఋద్ధి-సిద్ధి ధన పాతా॥

   Durga roop niranjani, sukh sampatti daata,
   Jo koi tumko dhyavat, riddhi-siddhi dhan paata.

   Pure one in the form of Durga, giver of happiness and wealth — whoever meditates on you gains prosperity, success and riches.

4. तुम पाताल-निवासिनि, तुम ही शुभदाता।
   कर्म-प्रभाव-प्रकाशिनि, भवनिधि की त्राता॥

   తెలుగు లిపిలో

   తుమ పాతాల-నివాసిని, తుమ హీ శుభదాతా।
   కర్మ-ప్రభావ-ప్రకాశిని, భవనిధి కీ త్రాతా॥

   Tum paatal-nivasini, tum hi shubhdaata,
   Karm-prabhav-prakashini, bhavnidhi ki traata.

   You dwell in the netherworld too, and you give all that is auspicious; you reveal the fruits of action and carry us across the ocean of worldly life.

5. जिस घर में तुम रहतीं, सब सद्गुण आता।
   सब सम्भव हो जाता, मन नहीं घबराता॥

   జిస ఘర మేం తుమ రహతీం, సబ సద్గుణ ఆతా।
   సబ సమ్భవ హో జాతా, మన నహీం ఘబరాతా॥

   Jis ghar mein tum rahtin, sab sadgun aata,
   Sab sambhav ho jaata, man nahin ghabraata.

   In the home where you live, every virtue arrives; everything becomes possible and the mind knows no fear.

6. तुम बिन यज्ञ न होते, वस्त्र न कोई पाता।
   खान-पान का वैभव, सब तुमसे आता॥

   తుమ బిన యజ్ఞ న హోతే, వస్త్ర న కోఈ పాతా।
   ఖాన-పాన కా వైభవ, సబ తుమసే ఆతా॥

   Tum bin yagya na hote, vastra na koi paata,
   Khaan-paan ka vaibhav, sab tumse aata.

   Without you no sacrifice could be offered and no one would have clothing; all abundance of food and drink comes from you.

7. शुभ-गुण मन्दिर सुन्दर, क्षीरोदधि-जाता।
   रत्न चतुर्दश तुम बिन, कोई नहीं पाता॥

   తెలుగు లిపిలో

   శుభ-గుణ మన్దిర సున్దర, క్షీరోదధి-జాతా।
   రత్న చతుర్దశ తుమ బిన, కోఈ నహీం పాతా॥

   Shubh-gun mandir sundar, kshirodadhi-jaata,
   Ratna chaturdash tum bin, koi nahin paata.

   Beautiful temple of all good qualities, born of the ocean of milk — without you no one could obtain the fourteen jewels.

8. महालक्ष्मीजी की आरती, जो कोई जन गाता।
   उर आनन्द समाता, पाप उतर जाता॥

   తెలుగు లిపిలో

   మహాలక్ష్మీజీ కీ ఆరతీ, జో కోఈ జన గాతా।
   ఉర ఆనన్ద సమాతా, పాప ఉతర జాతా॥

   Mahalakshmi ji ki aarti, jo koi jan gaata,
   Ur anand samaata, paap utar jaata.

   Whoever sings this aarti of Mahalakshmi is filled with joy, and their sins fall away.
