What is Ayudha Pooja?
Ayudha Pooja is the worship of the tools of one’s work — vehicles, machines, computers, instruments and books — on Mahanavami, the ninth day of Navaratri, thanking the goddess for livelihood and seeking success in the year ahead.
The tools are cleaned, decorated and marked with turmeric, kumkum and vibhuti, and worshipped as instruments of the goddess. An ash gourd with kumkum is broken to ward off the evil eye.
