About this mantra
The Gayatri mantra, from the Rig Veda, is a prayer to Savitr, the divine light of the Sun, for the illumination of the intellect. It is one of the most revered mantras in Hinduism and is chanted at sandhya, morning and evening.
Gayatri Mantra
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः।
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्॥తెలుగు లిపిలో
ఓం భూర్భువః స్వః।
తత్సవితుర్వరేణ్యం భర్గో దేవస్య ధీమహి।
ధియో యో నః ప్రచోదయాత్॥oṃ bhūrbhuvaḥ svaḥ|
tatsaviturvareṇyaṃ bhargo devasya dhīmahi|
dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt||Om. Earth, atmosphere, heaven. We meditate on the adorable radiance of the divine Savitr; may he inspire our understanding.
When to recite
At sunrise and sunset (sandhya), traditionally 108 times, facing east in the morning.

How to chant it
Sit facing east in the morning or west in the evening, after bathing. Chant slowly and clearly, counting on a mala if you like — 11, 27 or 108 times.
The opening “Om bhur bhuvah svah” (the vyahritis) is added before the Vedic verse in daily chanting.
