About this mantra
Om Namah Shivaya, the five-syllable (panchakshari) mantra of Shiva, is found in the Shri Rudram of the Yajur Veda. It is the simplest and most widely chanted Shiva mantra, open to everyone.
Om Namah Shivaya
ॐ नमः शिवाय
తెలుగు లిపిలో
ఓం నమః శివాయ
oṃ namaḥ śivāya
Om, salutations to Shiva, the auspicious one.
When to recite
Any time; especially Mondays, Pradosh and Maha Shivaratri, and during abhishekam.
