Religious
Saraswati is honoured as the giver of speech, learning and music. Students keep their books before her and do not study on the day, receiving them back blessed.

Characters: Lord Brahma, Goddess Saraswati
When Brahma had created the world, he found it complete in form but silent — without sound, speech or joy. He sprinkled water from his kamandalu and from it appeared a radiant goddess holding a veena, a book and a rosary.
As she played the veena, all beings received speech, the rivers began to murmur and the winds to sing. Brahma named her Saraswati, the goddess of speech and learning, and she is worshipped on the day of her appearance.

Before the puja

During the puja
